What’s your role as a Torchliter and which clients do you work with?
Graphic Designer & Art Director
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy reading, fishing, cooking, traveling, doodling, designing and playing the guitar.
Where do you live and what’s your favorite part about your hometown?
I am originally from the San Francisco Bay area but moved to Indianapolis a little over two years ago.
My favorite part about where I live now is the people. I have a wonderful group of friends who know how to have fun and keep each other inspired to grow in a positive direction.
What was the last trip you took?
I just got back from a four week trip to California and New York.
What was the last book you read?
The last book that I finished was called Wild at Heart by John Eldredge.
I am currently reading Rework, Purpose Driven Life, The Millionaire Next Door, as well as The Bible
If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or dead) who would it be and why?
I would have to go with Bobby Crane. He was my best buddy in the whole wide world and he was taken from this world when I was 17. I would love to be able to grab some grub and share a few more laughs with him.
What’s one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?
Most people don’t really know about my illustration background. It’s what got me into graphic design. I’ve kind of kept it separate as a hobby of mine. My style derives from 80’s skate art so it’s mostly super gnarly creatures infused with slime and stuff 😀
How did you get into freelancing?
I have been fortunate enough to freelance since I started college, and I love it. It keeps me grounded and rounded. It all pretty much stemmed from word of mouth. When people hear that I do graphic design, we usually end up choppin shop for a while and projects sometimes arise from that.
What’s your typical day like?
My day usually starts with a HUGE cup of coffee. Once I get that poured I usually open up a faith based book and read it till my cup is empty. It’s a great start to the day and it usually gets my mind going in the right direction. The rest of my day involves creating and completing task lists, client projects and emails. When the day is over, usually try and sneak over to this lake by my house to get some fishing in, or jam out on the guitar.
How do you stay up-to-date on the latest digital marketing trends?
Communication is key. I try and stay in contact with a lot of my creative friends who are all over the country to talk to them and see what they are up to. I also am constantly browsing blogs and different sites.
What’s your favorite part about working with Torchlite?
My favorite part about working with Torchlite has got to be the employees. Everyone I have come across at Torchlite has been extremely positive, personal and professional.
