Company to compete for $100,000 investment next month
Indianapolis, September 14, 2017 — Revolution announced today that Torchlite is one of the 10 finalists in the pitch competition that is part of the DC-based investment company’s “Rise of the Rest” initiative. “Rise of the Rest” is a nationwide effort to shine a spotlight on startup ecosystems across the country. As part of the day’s events, Revolution CEO and AOL Co-founder, Steve Case, hosts a pitch competition and invests $100,000 in a local startup; to-date the organization has invested more than $4 million in startups.
Since 2014, Case and Revolution have been getting on a bus to visit with founders, ecosystem builders and local officials. They have visited 26 cities thus far, and will visit Central PA, Ann Arbor, MI, Columbus, OH, and Green Bay, WI, along with Indianapolis this October.
“Indianapolis is an incredible place to launch and scale a software company,” said Susan Marshall, CEO and founder of Torchlite. “We are thrilled Steve Case and the team at Revolution chose Torchlite as one of their finalists. It’s an honor considering how many fantastic startups there are in Indy.”
As a finalist, Torchlite will prepare for pitch day with professional pitch coaches and designers, provided by Rise of the Rest national tour partner, by Google for Entrepreneurs. The Indianapolis “Rise of the Rest” pitch competition will be held October 12 at Union 525 in Indianapolis following a full day of events in which Steve and his team will tour a variety of businesses and startup resources in the Indy area.
